 What would you do?My partner never buys me presents - not for my birthday, Christmas or Valentine's Day, never. He says he doesn't know what I want and says he'd rather I buy something for myself and he'll give me the money. It's not a big deal to him but it seems a shame to me. I think a gift is more than just the thing - it's the thought. Don't buy him anything either. I had this with my husband, one year he didn't acknowledge my birthday or mother's day with our daughter, not even a word said like happy birthday. That was it the next year I did the same (yes the next year!!! Don't mess with me) thing to him. Since I have cards, presents, even perfume. He was so angry that I did nothing for him. My birthday is new years eve...not good ! My husband forgot my 40th birthday completely even though he knew that is always hated my birthday being overlooked..never had a special birthday party just for me..always everyone focused on the big new year events. But he learned that day & has not forgotten since or put me last. 45 years married now

My partner recently realized, he could come home with a rock from the paddock, and I would be happy! Maybe you should eplain that for you its about how well he knows you or how much he cares, and not so much the actual gift or where it came from.
